A practical guide to van stock control

Bring opening stock, sales and replenishment into the same record.

01 / Agree what leaves the depot

Confirm each product and quantity before the round begins. The opening position should reflect what is actually on the van, including stock carried over from the previous day.

02 / Capture movement when it happens

Sales, returns and replenishment change the balance for different reasons. Keep those reasons separate and record movements close to the event.

03 / Make low stock actionable

Review availability by product and van, then plan replenishment around the next round. A total across the fleet can hide a shortage on the vehicle that needs it.

04 / Close the loop

Compare the recorded closing balance with a physical count. Investigate material differences and leave a record of the adjustment and its reason.
